Conti's Rough Justice is season opener at Bath

Date: 4 September 2012

Stage and screen favourite Tom Conti stars in Terence Frisby’s gripping courtroom thriller Rough Justice, which palys at the Theatre Royal Bath from Monday 10 September to Saturday 15 September.

Television journalist James Highwood (played by Tom Conti) has made a career out of challenging the British justice system in his documentary programmes. In a twist of fate, suddenly it is Highwood himself who is challenged when he is brought to court to stand trial for a mercy killing. Combining a murder story, a courtroom drama and a psychological thriller, this thought-provoking play features a host of intricately plotted twists and turns.

One of Britain's most gifted and versatile actors, Tom Conti’s television and film work includes Reuben, Reuben, Shirley Valentine, Lark Rise to Candleford, Miranda and the psychological thriller, Donovan. His numerous stage highlights include his Olivier and Tony Award-winning role in Whose Life Is It Anyway? in the West End and on Broadway. Royce Mills (The Phantom of the Opera, Don’t Dress for Dinner) plays the role of the Judge. The cast is completed by Elizabeth Payne, Mary Lincoln, David Michaels, Shaun Morton, Simon Murray and Carol Starks.

We loved the Eastbourne production. The twists and turns play havoc with your emotions, and the humour just doesn't seem right when you have to laugh. It also touched a nerve as we have a friend with a severely disabled daughter and we can see how there life has been compromised in so many ways. a VERY EMOTIVE PLAY. - Alison Ridgeway
