dreamthinkspeak's latest production already a sell-out in Brighton

The Rest is Silence, dreamthinkspeak’s new production for this year’s Brighton Festival is already proving to be one of the major success stories. The cinematic and dreamlike deconstruction of Hamlet, that interweaves performance and film to create a vigorous new interpretation, has already sold out its entire run.

However, there is still a chance to experience this production where, enclosed on all four sides within a multi-reflective structure, the audience is free to roam and spy on the action as it unfolds around them. Inside, various scenes and visual sequences will interlock and interrupt each other, examining the play’s themes and characters simultaneously and from a variety of angles.

In order to try and meet the massive demand for tickets, 20 extra performances have now been added to the original dates. They will be running twice daily from 29 May until 8 June, with late afternoon as well as evening performances at the Malthouse Estate Warehouse in Shoreham. There will be a very limited number of standby tickets available.

In 2010 dreamthinkspeak’s site-specific production Before I Sleep was Brighton Festival’s best-ever selling production. The Rest is Silence will then transfer to the Riverside Studios, Hammersmith as part of LIFT 2012 and the London 2012 Festival, and then to Northern Stage as part of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Newcastle season. LIFT and the RSC are co-commissioners for the piece.

Created in 1999 by artistic director Tristan Sharps, dreamthinkspeak is recognised as one of the forerunners of site-responsive performance, evolving into an ensemble of artists and craftspeople. Their productions interweave live performance with film and installations to create visually layered work that has proved popular with audiences.
