Brid Brennan stars in Desolate Heaven at Theatre503

Date: 28 December 2012

Tony Award-winning Irish actress Brid Brennan will star in Ailis Ni Riain's debut play Desolate Heaven, which runs at Theatre503 from 5 February to 2 March 2013.

The play centres on the story of two young girls burdened with an unnatural responsibility. According to press material, "it is a story of falling in love for the first time. It’s a story about running away. It is a story of growing up too soon. And it's a story about why fairytales can sometimes be deadly."

Ailis Ni Riain is a composer and playwright who recently won the Tom Erhardt Peggy Ramsay Award with Desolate Heaven. This production opens Paul Robinson's first season as sole artistic director of Theatre503.

Brid Brennan's stage credits include the original production of Brian Friel's Dancing at Lughnasa, for which she won a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play. She also appeared in Rutherford and Son at the National theatre and The Little Foxes at the Donmar, both of which earned her Olivier Award nominations. In 2010 she appeared in Philadelphia, Here I Come! at the Gaiety Theatre in Dublin, directed by Dominic Dromgoole.

Desolate Heaven will be the first of a number of productions of first time plays by new writers at Theatre503, which is located above the Latchmere pub in Battersea.
