Benji Reid brings Pinocchio to Zion Centre, 13 DecemberDate: 3 December 2012 Award winning director and choreographer Beni Reid whose work has been seen extensively at the Contact Theatre is directing a new version of a family classic.
Transported to Moss Side. 1976 - it's the year of the Great Heatwave and Pinocchio’s on the run. In a ramshackle shop his father, Elijah, the toymaker waits. Will Pinocchio ever return to make him proud?
In an alternative to the traditional Christmas Panto, Reid joins Z-arts and writer Mary Cooper to produce this show described as 'fast, funny and magical show for all the family.' Given the synopsis, it certainly promises to be a retelling of Carlo Collodi’s children’s classic like no other, as it contains bodypopping and puppetry, music, action and animation.
Pinocchio runs at the Zion Arts Centre in Manchester from 12 - 22 December.
