Epic Arrives at greenroom, 13 May
Date: 6 May 2011
The greenroom will be hosting Epic - a new production which takes you on a quest for History: the big one, written about in books. The one with World Wars in it, with memorable dates and names you learn at school but also the personal one, the human one, the one you can relate to.
Chloé, Lucy, Philip and Ed try to track down the history of their own families, digging up the secrets of an English family in the Northern mines, a French family caught up in Paris’s May 1968 turmoil and a Turkish grandmother on a long walk to Istanbul in search of the country’s small, Jewish community.
Epic is described as a playful and experimental journey through the past hundred years, Epic creates moments of intimacy while connecting us to the bigger picture. It is presented in association with the Corn Exchange, Newbury.
Epic was first developped during a 3 week-long Research and Development phase in Spring 2010 thanks to support from the Corn Exchange Newbury where we had a residency and to BAC, where the company performed a scratch version of the show, as part of their Scratch festival.
The show features new collaborators including Sharon Smith as dramaturg (Gob Squad/Max Factory) and video designer Ian William Galloway (Mesmer).
Epic is at greenroom in Manchester on 13 May.
