Fonz, Les Dennis and Natasha Hamilton in Peter Pan!

Date: 2 September 2009

American television legend Henry Winkler will be appearing in this year’s Peter Pan pantomime at the Liverpool Empire.

Familiar to millions for his TV role as the Fonz in Happy Days, Winkler will be playing the part of Captain Hook.

Winkler said: “I am so excited to be returning to the UK to appear in Peter Pan. I hear that the Liverpool Empire is one of the most beautiful theatres in the country and it will be a pleasure to perform there. I really look forward to meeting the people of Liverpool ....so hook your tickets now to board the Jolly Roger.”

Joining Winkler are ex-Atomic Kitten Natasha Hamilton, who is making her pantomime debut, in the title role and fellow Scouser Les Dennis, who makes a return to his home city following his appearance in When We Are Married at the Liverpool Playhouse in spring this year.

Commenting about her involvement, Hamilton said: “I am so honoured to be asked to appear as Peter Pan at my local theatre, the Liverpool Empire. The children can’t wait to come and see their Mummy flying! It’s going to be a great experience.”

Dennis added: “I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to be coming back to the Liverpool Empire for the second year running. I had the best time last year, to be at home for Christmas is fantastic and the Liverpool audiences are just great! This time you get to see me in a frock as well – that is not to be missed, I can’t wait to get started!”

Peter Pan is being produced by First Family Entertainment, the same producers responsible for last year’s Christmas show at the Empire, Cinderella.

Peter Pan appears at the Liverpool Empire theatre from 7 December until 3 January 2010. Tickets cost £13.50-£26.
