Ansell heads breathtaking four night Rhapsody

Ansell heads breathtaking four night Rhapsody

Date: 31 May 2012

A new production is set to break free in June, bringing a heady dose of rock and roll to the legions of Queen fans across the region. Bohemian Rhapsody, starring classical superstar Jonathan Ansell, is set to be one of the world’s greatest Queen shows ever, and premieres at Newcastle Theatre Royal for four nights only Wednesday 20 to Saturday 23 June.

Bohemian Rhapsody is an electrifying celebration of one of the biggest and greatest stadium rock bands the world has ever known. Featuring 25 amazing star performers live on stage, including nine West End stars, dancers and a live orchestra, it will take audiences on a spellbinding never-done-before journey through the biggest hits of Freddie Mercury and Queen.

An explosive full-scale West End show, it will feature the anthemic songs: "We Will Rock You", "Killer Queen", "We are the Champions", "Barcelona" and of course – "Bohemian Rhapsody".

Classical recording star Jonathan Ansell leads the troupe of West End musical stars. He initially rose to fame with multi-million-selling G4, but it is his solo achievements that have sent his career into orbit. In 2008, his first solo album, Tenor At The Movies, went straight to No 1 in the classical charts, making him the youngest ever tenor to top the classical charts. He is now Britain ’s most popular and successful young tenor.

He is joined by a multi-award winning stellar cast including Sabrina Aloueche (Eponine in Les Misérables, Scaramouche in We Will Rock You), Erin Cornell (Wicked Witch in Wicked in Asia), Simon Bowman (Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserable’s, Miss Saigon); Victoria Hamilton-Barritt (Gypsy Rose Lee in Gypsy, Alex Owens in Flashdance, Rizzo in Grease), Andrew Derbyshire (Gallileo in We Will Rock You, Joseph); Duncan Heather (Jersey Boys; Lead Tenor in The Spirit Of Broadway, Frankie Valli in Twist and Shout); Lucinda Shaw (Diva in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert; Mazeppa in Gypsy, Violet in It’s A Wonderful Life, Alternate Killer Queen in We Will Rock You) and Rachael Wooding (Mary Delgado in Jersey Boys, Amber in Hairspray, Meatloaf and Scaramouche in We Will Rock You and Serena in Fame.)

After its World Premiere at Newcastle Theatre Royal, Bohemian Rhapsody will embark on a UK, then world, tour.

Bohemian Rhapsody appears at Newcastle Theatre Royal Wednesday 20 to Saturday 23 June 2012. Tickets are £16.50 - £30.00 and can be purchased from the Theatre Royal Box Office on 08448 11 21 21 or select your own seat and book online.
