Teale, Bond & Scholey join Wanamaker in Passion Play

Date: 8 March 2013

Owen Teale, Samantha Bond, Oliver Cotton, Annabel Scholey, and Sian Thomas have been cast alongside Zoe Wanamaker in the forthcoming West End revival of Peter Nichols' Passion Play, which opens at the Duke of York's Theatre on 7 May 2013 (previews from 1 May).

The play, last seen in the West End in 2000, charts the collapse of a 25-year of marriage as a successful man still in love with his wife is attracted to a younger and sexually voracious woman whose temptations he's unable to resist. As trust collapses, husband and wife Eleanor and James are left floundering and exposed.

Writer Peter Nichols' other plays include A Day In The Death Of Joe Egg, The National Health and Privates On Parade, recently revived in the West End by Michael Grandage.

Owen Teale, who plays husband James, can currently be seen on stage in A Time to Reap at the Royal Court. His recent theatre credits include The Country (Royal Court), Creditors (Donmar/Brooklyn Academy) and The Dance of Death (Lyric, West End/Sydney Festival). He won a Tony Award for Best Featured Artist for A Doll's House (West End/Broadway).

Annabel Scholey plays Kate. Her recent theatre credits include Antigone (National), Lady Anne in Richard III with Kevin Spacey in the title role (Old Vic), The Rivals (Theatre Royal Haymarket/UK Tour), Charley's Aunt (Royal Exchange Manchester) and A Midsummer Night's Dream (Rose Theatre, Kingston).

Samantha Bond plays Nell. Her previous West End stage appearances include What The Butler Saw and An Ideal Husband (Vaudeville), Michael Frayn's Donkey's Years (Comedy), Oscar Wilde's A Woman of No Importance (Theatre Royal Haymarket) and Tom Stoppard's Arcadia (Duke of York's). She is perhaps best known for playing Miss Moneypenny in the James Bond films starring Pierce Brosnan, while her recent television roles include Aunty Angela in Outnumbered (BBC) and Lady Rosamund in Downton Abbey (ITV).

Passion Play, which runs at Richmond Theatre (12-20 April) and the Theatre Royal, Brighton (23-27 April) prior to the West End, is produced by Tali Pelman Productions for the Ambassador Theatre Group and Old Vic Productions.
