Shows extend: Jersey Boys, Viva Forever! & Les Miserables

As Jersey Boys prepares to mark its fifth London birthday the Whatsonstage.com Award-winning show has extended booking at the Prince Edward Theatre to 2 March 2014.

The musical, which originally opened on Broadway in 2006, follows four boys on their journey from the wrong side of the tracks in the state of New Jersey to international success as pop music sensation The Four Seasons.

New cast members are due to start next week. From 12 March, Edd Post and David McGranaghan will join the London cast as Bob Gaudio and Nick Massi respectively. Ryan Molloy - who has been with the West End production since it opened in 2008 - will continue as Frankie Valli and Jon Boydon as Tommy DeVito, with Jon Lee playing the role of Frankie Valli at certain performances. 

As part of the celebrations for the show's fifth birthday (on 26 March), the producers have launched Senior Sundays, whereby senior citizens are now able to see Jersey Boys for £27.50 at Sunday performances. 

Spice Girls musical Viva Forever! has extended booking at the Piccadilly Theatre by eight months to 15 February 2014.

The show, which opened in December, centres on Viva (Hannah John-Kamen), her mum (Sally Ann Triplett) and her friends whose lives are turned upside down by an X Factor-style talent show.

Featuring Spice Girls hits including "Wannabe", "2 Become 1" and the title song, Viva Forever! has a book by comedy star Jennifer Saunders and is directed by Paul Garrington.

Les Miserables, which recently won the Whatsonstage.com Award for Best West End Show, has extended its booking period at the Queen's Theatre to 26 April 2014.

The show originally opened in London at the Barbican Theatre on 8 October 1985, transferred to the Palace Theatre on 4 December 1985 and moved to its current home at the Queen's Theatre on 3 April 2004.

The recent Oscar-winning movie adaptation starred Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Samantha Barks, Eddie Redmayne and Amanda Seyfried.

The current West End cast includes Geronimo Rauch (Jean Valjean), Tam Mutu (Javert) and Danielle Hope (Eponine).
