Other Voices celebrates Int Women's Day at 3MT, ManchesterDate: 15 February 2013 Other Voices is a programme of new Drama, Music and Arts events presented at The Three Minute Theatre in Manchester, throughout International Women’s Week (3 - 10 March) to celebrate the creativity and diversity of all women, especially those minority groups whose issues are marginalised.
Organisers Gina Topliff-Frost and Marilyn Davidson hope that the event will provide a platform for these ‘other voices’ to be heard. Events aimed at theatre lovers include an evening of poetry from celebrated female poets, Poetry for a New World and Dear John, a witty, acerbic look at sex in advertising.
There are also five new plays, including the comedy Rucking Fantastic detailing the lives of a Manchester Women’s Rugby Team, Asylum of Grace, a true story domestic coercion in the 1980’s, I'm Your Man, a tale of love and sexual identity and two experimental plays, Release and Surrender and Unbearable Weight.
