West End transfer of Curious Incident extends by 14 weeks

Date: 25 January 2013

The West End transfer of the National Theatre's Whatsonstage.com Award-nominated production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time has extended its booking period at the Apollo Theatre by 14 weeks to 31 August.

The show is based on Mark Haddon's award-winning novel, adapted by Simon Stephens (Harper Regan, Port) and directed by Marianne Elliott (War Horse). It had a sell-out run at the National's Cottesloe Theatre and set a new record with its NT Live broadcast to worldwide cinemas, being seen by over 40,000 people in the UK alone.

Casting for the transfer is now complete: Holly Aird joins the company to play Judy, with Johnny Gibbon as the alternate Christopher, Sean Gleeson as Ed and Tilly Tremayne as Mrs Alexander.

As previously reported, Luke Treadaway re-creates his performance as Christopher Boone, the 15-year old maths genius with behavioural problems.

Treadaway - who performs on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays - will be joined by fellow original cast member Niamh Cusack playing his teacher, Siobhan. The cast is completed by Matthew Barker (Ensemble), Sophie Duval (Mrs Shears), Rhiannon Harper-Rafferty (Ensemble), Nick Sidi (Roger) and Howard Ward (Ensemble).

Tickets go on sale to the general public today (Friday 25 January).

There is an accompanying learning programme for schools including workshops, pre-show Q&As and a 'Curious about Devising' project offering ASD and neuro-typical students the chance to integrate through collaborative theatre-making.
