Hemingway adaptation Fiesta comes to Trafalgar 2

Fiesta, an adaptation of Ernest Hemingway's first novel The Sun Also Rises, will premiere at Trafalgar Studios 2 in February.

Billed as a "fiercely original theatrical experience", the show "will fuse live jazz performance and dynamic choreography into a play that sees the sensual beauty and the raw brutality of Hemingway's tale of love, loss and decadence".

Adapted by Alex Helfrecht (who also directs) and Sam Snape, Fiesta stars Gideon Turner as Jake, the American writer living a bohemian lifestyle in 1920s Paris who travels to Pamplona to witness the infamous bullfighting.

Turner, whose credits include Arcadia at the National and Don Juan at the Donmar, will be joined in the cast by Jye Frasca (Jersey Boys) as Robert Cohn, Josie Taylor (My Name is Rachel Corrie) as Brett and Jack Holden (War Horse) as Romero.

Music will be provided by jazz band Trio Farouche, including a "fusion of new compositions". Fiesta is produced by Philip Munger, Jorg Tittel and George Warren. Set design is by Rachel Noel (Secret Cinema) and choreography by Sonja Perreten.

It opens on 7 February 2013 (previews from 5 February) and runs until 2 March.
