Grant is Grease Manchester tour's new Teen Angel, 8 Oct

Date: 13 September 2012

Reality TV star Russell Grant is to take on the role of ‘Teen Angel’ in the Grease UK tour tnext month when it reaches Manchester. He will don the famous white suit and croon away to ‘Beauty School Dropout’.

Astologer Grant, who caught the public’s attention as an unlikely contestant on Strictly Come Dancing last year, initially found fame by becoming the Astrologer Royal. In addition to this he has an extensive career as a performer: his various credits include The King and I and The Rocky Horror Show on tour and more recently playing ‘The Wizard’ in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Wizard of Oz at the London Palladium.

He will join reality TV star Danny Bayne, winner of ITV’s Grease is the Word talent contest, who plays Danny, as well as Carina Gillespie (Grease in the West End, Buddy) who takes on the role of his love interest Sandy.

This current production of Grease debuted in the West End in 1993; written by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, it's directed by David Gilmore (Daisy Pulls It Off, Footloose).

Grease is at the Palace Theatre, Manchester from 8 - 13 October.

Couldn't agree more John - he's useless! Dire! People should save their money. Absolutely dreadful. Mary Byrne as teen angel? Lol - desperation or what? Joke! - Matt

Grant was dire in Wizard of Oz. he cannot act or sing. He is banal and facile, a fat waste of space. - John
