Save Last Dance brings nostalgia to Blackpool, 18 JuneDate: 12 June 2012 With nostalgia - a selling point for the hit show - Dreamboats and Petticoats, the writers, producers, creators and director, are currently touring new show Save the Last Dance for Me which arrives at the Blackpool Grand later this month. The show promises to take you back through the ‘music and magic’ of the early 60’s, a time when each passing week brought another Rock ‘n’ Roll classic.
Written by Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran (Goodnight Sweetheart, Birds of a Feather, Shine on Harvey Moon), featuring the unmistakable music of Doc Pomus & Mort Shuman, and with authentic recreation of the sound of Rock ‘n’ Roll, this nostalgic, feel-good journey is set to transport you back to music’s golden era as we follow two teenage sisters through the summer of ‘63.
For the first time without their parents, the sisters embark on a holiday to the seaside. Full of freedom and high spirits they meet a handsome young American who invites them to a dance at the local U.S. Air force base... But young love and holiday romance is never as simple as it sounds, and the sisters soon realise that while the world around them is still watching itself in black and white, life and love can be much more colourful.
Among the iconic songs are "A Teenager in Love", "Sweets for my Sweet" and "Turn Me Loose."
Save the Last Dance for Me runs the Blackpool Grand from 18 - 23 June.

| Comment | Date | | Went to see this show in Blackpool last night, it was absolutely fantastic, the cast were all so versatile and brilliant in their own way. I have already recommended it to my work colleague and I would certainly go to see it again. - Veronica Orr | 19 Jun 12 |
