NT Collaborators Transfers to Olivier from 31 Apr
Date: 23 November 2011

Collaborators, John Hodge's new play inspired by the true story of an artistic collaboration between Mikhail Bulgakov and Stalin, will transfer from the NT Cottesloe to the Olivier from 30 April 2012, where it will kick off the new Travelex £12 season.

The play, starring NT stalwarts Alex Jennings as Bulgakov and Simon Russell Beale as Stalin, opened to warm reviews in the Cottesloe earlier this month (1 November 2011, previews from 25 October), where it continues in rep until 31 March 2012.

Hodge, who wrote the screenplays for Trainspotting, Shallow Grave and The Beach, among others, surreally examines Bulgakov's unenviable position when he's apporached by the Russian dictator to pen a play for his 60th birthday.

Directed by Nicholas Hytner, the cast also features Mark Addy, Sarah Annis, Marcus Cunningham, Jacqueline Defferary, Patrick Godfrey, Michael Jenn, Jess Murphy, William Postlethwaite, Pierce Reid, Nick Sampson, Maggie Service and Perri Snowdon.

Collaborators will be broadcast to cinemas worldwide as part of National Theatre Live on 1 December.
