Julie Atherton Brings Air Concert to Apollo, 26 Jun

Julie Atherton will perform her biggest concert to date, bringing her No Space for Air live show to the West End's Apollo Theatre for a one-off performance on Sunday 26 June 2011, accompanied by Daniel Boys and Richard Fleeshman.

Performing tracks from her second solo album No Space for Air and songs from shows that have shaped her career, Atherton will also be joined on stage by a ten-piece band and a choir.

Lance Horne will also join Atherton to perform two of his songs, with young British composer Michael Bruce leading the West End star in a rendition of his song "Portrait of a Princess" - for which a star-studded YouTube music video was recently released.

In addition to songs from shows such as Avenue Q, The Last 5 Years and Ordinary Days, Atherton's No Space for Air concert promises "some totally unexpected numbers" will receive "the Atherton treatment".

Best known for creating the roles of Kate Monster and Lucy the Slut in the West End production of Avenue Q, and her 2009 appearance as Cathy in Jason Robert Brown’s The Last 5 Years at the Duchess Theatre, Atherton previously played Sophie in Mamma Mia! and Serena in Fame. Her concert credits include engagements at the Donmar Warehouse and the Royal Albert Hall.

A competitor on the 2007 BBC search for a Joseph, Any Dream Will Do Daniel Boys' musical credits have included I Love You Because and Wolfboy as well as starring alongside Atherton in Ordinary Days and Avenue Q - for which he won the 2009 Whatsonstage.com Award for Best Takeover in a Role. He is currently performing in Australia at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival.

Richard Fleeshman first came to public attention as a young actor in Coronation Street. More recently, he took over from Blue's Duncan James as Warner in Legally Blonde. He will soon be returning to the West End in stage-to-screen musical Ghost which opens at the Piccadilly Theatre on 19 July (previews from 24 June 2011).

Atherton's one-night concert joins cabaret star Meow Meow, who recently announced she will bring her one-woman show Meow Meow In Concert to the Apollo from 23 to 25 June 2011.

Both artists call the Apollo home between Thea Sharrock’s Theatre Royal Bath production of Noel Coward's Blithe Spirit, which completes its West End run on 18 June, and Yes, Prime Minister which returns to the West End, opening at the Apollo on 7 July (previews from 6 July) following its limited season at the Gielgud Theatre last year and subsequent tour. It is initially booking through to 17 September 2011.
