Autumn Tour for NT & Headlong's Earthquakes

Date: 6 May 2011

Following its run last summer in the NT Cottesloe, Headlong and the National Theatre will tour Mike Bartlett's Earthquakes in London playing a seven-date tour this autumn.

Rupert Goold's production of the play, which spans climate change issues and dysfunctional family relationships from 1968 to 2525, will kick off its tour from the Theatre Royal Plymouth on 22 September, opening in Bath on 29 September (previews from 27 September) before playing Malvern, Brighton, Richmond and Oxford, finishing in Cambridge on 12 November.

Earthquakes in London is billed as a "fast and furious metropolitan crash of people, scenes and decades as three sisters attempt to navigate their dislocated lives and loves, while their dysfunctional father, a brilliant scientist, predicts global catastrophe."

Artistic director of Headlong, Rupert Goold's recent productions include the critically acclaimed Enron at Chichester, Royal Court and in the West End and on Broadway, Time and the Conways at the National and Macbeth starring Patrick Stewart and Kate Fleetwood at the Gielgud Theatre.

Goold is an associate of the RSC where his credits include The Tempest and Romeo and Juliet. The RSC have reunited him with Stewart, directing the company's upcoming production of The Merchant of Venice which opens in Stratford later this month.

Mike Bartlett's Love, Love, Love is currently being toured nationally by Paines Plough. His other plays include Cock, Contractions and My Child at the Royal Court, and Artefacts at the Bush Theatre. He is writer in residence at the National Theatre and winner of both the 2010 Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement and the Writer’s Guild Tinniswood and Imision Prize.

Earthquakes in London's large scale NT Cottesloe production played a sell-out run at the National from 4 August (previews from 28 July) to 22 September 2010. It had a cast that included Anna Madelely, Bill Paterson, Jessica Raine, Geoffrey Streatfeild and Lia Williams. Casting for the upcoming production is still to be announced.

The production is designed by Miriam Buether with costumes by Katrina Lindsay, lighting by Howard Harrison sound by Gregory Clarke and music by Alex Baranowski. It is choreographed by Scott Ambler with projection design by Jon Driscoll.
