Niki Evans is Salford's Mrs Johnstone in Blood Brothers

Date: 25 January 2011

Written by Willy Russell, the legendary Blood Brothers arrives at The Lowry for the first time, as part of the successful UK tour. Few musicals have received quite such acclaim as the multi-award-winning Blood Brothers, and Bill Kenwright’s production, having recently celebrated its 21st phenomenal year in London, continues to enjoy standing ovations at every performance.

The show recently finished a two week run in Liverpool recently featuring former Spice Girl, Melanie Chisolm. Former X Factor contestant Niki Evans plays the iconic role of Mrs Johnstone at the Lowry dates next month.

Mum of two Evans, from Birmingham, won the hearts of millions as one of the most popular female artists ever to appear in the X Factor in 2007 with her extraordinary renditions of such songs as "Fields of Gold", "Songbird", and "All That Jazz."

Niki has previously played Mrs Johnstone in the West End in 2008, and 2010.

Blood Brothers tells the captivating and moving tale of twins who, separated at birth, grow up on opposite sides of the tracks, only to meet again with tragic consequences. Accompanied by a superb score prepare your hankies as you sing along with showstoppers such as Bright New Day, Marilyn Monroe and the emotionally charged hit Tell Me It’s Not True.

Blood Brothers runs at the Lowry from 21 - 26 February.
