Room on the Broom Sweeps Garrick for Summer
Date: 1 June 2010

Room on the Broom, adapted from the best-selling book written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler, is flying in to the West End's Garrick Theatre in the summer.

Staged by Tall Stories, the same company behind the recent stage version of Donaldson and Scheffler's The Gruffalo, the show will run in the daytime slot from 28 July to 29 August 2010.

Room on the Broom is about a witch and her cat, who are flying happily along on their broomstick when a gust of wind blows her hat, bow and wand away into the night. With the help of a daft dog, a beautiful bird and a friendly frog, the lost belongings are retrieved. But this broomstick’s not meant for five and – crack! - it snaps in two! When a hungry dragon appears, who will save the poor witch? And will there ever be room on the broom for everyone?

The show, which has been touring since late 2008, promises a “magical, musical delight” for children aged 3+, and will run concurrently at the Garrick with David Essex musical All the Fun of the Fair, which is booking to 5 September 2010.
