Suzman Leads Dog to Trafalgar Studios, 26 May
Date: 20 May 2010

The UK premiere production of South African Craig Higginson's play Dream of the Dog, which finishes at the Finborough Theatre on Saturday (22 May), will transfer to Trafalgar Studio 2 from 26 May to 19 June.

The production stars former Academy Award nominee Janet Suzman (Nicholas and Alexandra) alongside Ariyon Bakare, Gracy Goldman and Bernard Kay, and is directed by Katie McAleese.

Dream of the Dog was first seen in South Africa in 2007, playing at the Grahamstown Festival and the Market Theatre, Johannesburg, where it was nominated for four Naledi Awards (South Africa’s equivalent of the Olivier Awards) including Best New South African Play.

The action is set in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, shortly after the millennium, where elderly white couple Patricia and Richard Wiley are packing up to leave the farm they’ve sold to developers. But their preparations are interrupted by the arrival of a young man – ‘Look Smart’ – who used to be one of the black workers on their estate until he disappeared fifteen years ago.

Dream of the Dog is produced by Meeting Point Productions in association with Neil McPherson for the Finborough Theatre.
