Cast: Enron, Stevenson & Manville in Sky Playhouse
Date: 6 May 2010

The day after the Broadway production Enron closes prematurely, the West End production of Lucy Prebble’s corporate fraud drama will welcome a new cast.

From this Monday 10 May 2010 at the Noel Coward Theatre, Corey Johnson will take over from Samuel West as Enron president Jeffrey Skilling, Clive Francis will succeed from Tim Pigott-Smith as chairman Ken Lay, Paul Chahidi will take over from Tom Goodman-Hill as financial director Andy Fastow, and Sara Stewart will succeed Amanda Drew as fictional executive Claudia Roe.

The new ensemble comprises: Shane Attwooll, Matt Blair, Saskia Butler, Simon Coombs, Matt Dempsey, Susannah Fellows, Derek Hagen, Leila Benn Harris, Ed Hughes, Jason Langley, Antonio Magro and Ewan Wardrop. Enron continues its extended eight-month season at the Noel Coward on 14 August 2010 (coincidentally, the ninth anniversary of the whistle-blowing letter that precipitated Enron’s collapse).

After the West End, the Headlong production will return to Chichester Festival Theatre, where it premiered last July, from 10 to 18 September 2010 before embarking on a tour to Birmingham, Bath, Salford, Sheffield, Newcastle and Edinburgh with further national and international dates to be announced.

Described as an "epic tragedy", Enron is inspired by the real events surrounding the Texas-headquartered energy company that filed for bankruptcy in 2001. It’s helmed by Headlong artistic director Rupert Goold, who won Best Director at this year’s Evening Standard, Critics’ Circle and Laurence Olivier Awards for the play.

In other play casting news, Juliet Stevenson and Lesley Manville will star in Ghost Story, written and directed by Mark Ravenhill as part of the upcoming Sky Arts: Playhouse season, which sees five new plays performed and filmed at west London’s Riverside Studios under the artistic direction of series presenter Sandi Toksvig.

In Ghost Story - which runs at Riverside from 10 to 13 June 2010 and is then broadcast on 16 June – breast cancer sufferer Lisa comes to healer Meryl for help in dealing with her disease. It’s billed as a “satire on the positive-thinking movement”.

The other plays in the season, running at Riverside from 9 June to 7 July 2010, are: Rebecca Lenkiewicz’s The Typist, Alia Bano’s Hens, Frank McGuinnessCrocodile and Eve Ensler’s Here. Sky Arts: Playhouse will be broadcast in five 60-minute programmes on Sky Arts 2 HD and Sky Arts 2 at 9pm.
