Joseph set for Summer Salford date

Date: 30 April 2010

With theatre fans currently glued to Over The Rainbow (see our blog) on BBC One, Any Dream Will Do's Craig Chalmers is visiting the region again in Joseph and The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.

With the box office still ringing for Oliver! in the West End and the Connie Fisher led hit, The Sound Of Music on tour, and The Wizard Of Oz expected to open at the Palladium, reality TV casting seems as good for box office as ever before.

Sales of the previous Joseph tour which starred both Craig Chalmers and Keith Jack also outstripped predictions in Manchester, two years ago. Therefore, Bill Kenwright bought the show back again, twice. It now returns for a fourth time this July. The show opens at the Lowry from 5 - 10 July.

Chalmers returns to the lead role. Craig, chosen from tens of thousands, charmed audiences week after week with his vocal talents and finished in the top five.

First seen in 1968 as a 15-minute ‘pop cantata’ written for a London school’s end of term concert, Joseph has gone on to become one of the world’s most established and successful musicals.

This production has won a spot in The Guinness Book of Records as the longest-running touring stage musical of all time, having toured theatres around for over 20 years.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, is directed by Bill Kenwright with lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
