Buckley & Boys Live in Delfont Room, Atherton Air

Two alumni of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s BBC reality TV competitions – I’d Do Anything’s Jessie Buckley and Any Dream Will Do’s Daniel Boys – feature in the new summer season of LIVE IN THE DELFONT ROOM late-night cabarets, presented in association with Whatsonstage.com at the West End’s Prince of Wales Theatre, home of our annual Whatsonstage.com Awards Concert in February.

Boys is himself a Whatsonstage.com Award winner, scooping Best Takeover in a Role in 2009 for his post-Any Dream Will Do turn in Avenue Q, while Buckley was nominated in this year’s awards for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical for Trevor Nunn’s Menier Chocolate Factory and West End revival of Sondheim’s A Little Night Music, in which she made her stage debut last year after being discovered on I’d Do Anything.

Buckley performs at the Delfont Room on Saturday 31 July, followed by Boys on Saturday 4 September. Also on the summer bill are: Hair musical director Richard Beadle (29 May), previewing excerpts of his new musical Today Is My Day; and Hairspray star Rachel Wooding (26 June). For all, doors open at 10.30pm with performances commencing at 11pm.

Separate to the LIVE IN THE DELFONT ROOM, Julie Atherton will be performing at the venue at 7pm on Sunday 6 June 2010 with a one-off solo engagement coinciding with the release of her second album No Space for Air, the first copies of which will be available on the night.

Atherton is best known for originating the West End roles of Kate Monster and Lucy the Slut in Avenue Q. Her many other credits include Notes from New York, Mamma Mia! and Fame. No Space for Air follows her debut album A Girl of Few Words. Atherton’s solo show, which has musical direction by Craig Adams, is produced by Neil Eckersley and Paul Spicer for Speckulation Entertainment.
