Popstar! cancelled at Opera House, 24 May

Date: 10 May 2010

PopStar! The Musical has been cancelled and wil no longer be showing at the Opera House. The show was described as the ultimate feel-good comedy musical taking a hilarious look at the phenomena of modern day talent shows – the heartbreaks and the joys.

From the house to the studio and back again, this fast paced show will keep you laughing and guessing until the final moments. Be shocked, as the true stories and relationships behind all of the contestants are revealed.

The show has evolved from its original title, The eXtra Factor which was pulled during its tour two years ago, following Simon Cowell's objections to the title as it was the same as his ITV2 back stage look at the hit show The X Factor.

The celebrity cast included stars from soaps, theatre and music, including Sam Kane, John Altman, Antony Costa and Sarah Jane Buckley.

PopStar! The Musical was due to play at Opera House, Manchester from 24- 26 May. There has been no reason given for the cancellation, although the bad reviews given for the show so far cannot have helped. Refunds are available from the box office.
