Date: 9 April 2009

The Royal Shakespeare Company today (9 April 2009) unveiled “The Big Picture” at its home in Stratford-upon-Avon. The gigantic image, measuring 21 metres in width x 12 metres in height, is displayed on the front of the offices at the construction site of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, which is two years into a three-year, £113 million refurbishment.

The Big Picture has been created by Brazilian photographer Ellie Kurttz, who has photographed 85 productions and rehearsals at the RSC. Digitally composed from four group shots - featuring members of the Whatsonstage.com and Olivier Award-winning Histories company as well as backstage specialists - taken over a two-hour period on the RSC’s Courtyard Theatre stage, The Big Picture will be on display until the end of the year.
