Capron, Pemberton & Baker Guest Host Xmas Rocky

The guest narrators for The Rocky Horror Show’s Christmas run at the West End’s Comedy Theatre have been announced. Joining David Bedella and Suzanne Shaw in Richard O'Brien’s cult rock ‘n’ roll musical are “Corrie Killer” Brian Capron (pictured), The League of Gentlemen’s Steve Pemberton and DJ Danny Baker.

The Rocky Horror Show will be at the Comedy from 21 December 2006 to 27 January 2007 (See News, 21 Nov 2006). The show - which was inspired by schlock sci-fi films and follows squeaky-clean sweethearts Brad and Janet on an adventure they'll never forget - was last seen in the West End in July this year when the touring production took a break from its regional dates to run for three weeks at the Playhouse (See News, 26 May 2006).

Christopher Luscombe’s production, which is currently back on the road, will feature Capron from 21 December 2006 to 6 January 2007, Pemberton from 8 to 20 January 2007, and Baker from 22 to 27 January 2007.

In addition to his role as Richard Hillman in long-running soap Coronation Street, Brian Capron’s television credits include Where the Heart Is, Peak Practice and Grange Hill. As part of The League of Gentlemen, Steve Pemberton won the Perrier Award for comedy, a BAFTA and the Golden Rose of Montreux Award. Their acclaimed, cult BBC2 TV show has run for three series and spawned two live stage productions and a feature film, The League of Gentlemen's Apocalypse. Pemberton’s other film credits include Match Point, Lassie and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Danny Baker was named Sony DJ of the Year in 2005 and has a daily show on BBC London. He is also a well-known football commentator and pundit.

The original Rocky Horror premiered at the Royal Court Theatre Upstairs in 1973 and later spawned the 1975 cult film (starring Susan Sarandon, Tim Curry and Meatloaf) as well as countless revivals. The score includes "Sweet Transvestite", "Damn It Janet" and "Time Warp". O’Brien joined stars including Anthony Head, Michael Ball, Stephen Gately and Jamie Theakston in the Royal Court’s role-sharing one-off performance on 6 May 2006 (See News, 26 Apr 2006), as part of the theatre’s year-long 50th anniversary season.

This production is designed by Janet Bird with costumes by Sue Blane, lighting by Nick Richings, choreography by Jenny Arnold, musical direction by Simon Beck and sound by Rick Clarke. Currently at the Comedy Theatre, Jeremy Sams’ revival of Michael Frayn’s Olivier Award-winning Donkeys' Years closes on 16 December at the end of its current booking period (See News, 6 Nov 2006).
