Fuerzabruta Adds Four Weeks to Roundhouse Run

Fuerzabruta Adds Four Weeks to Roundhouse Run

Date: 20 June 2006

Fuerzabruta - the latest show from the founders of De La Guarda, which launched the opening of the newly renovated Roundhouse earlier this month (See News, 1 Feb 2006) - has extended its limited run at the historic Chalk Farm venue by a month. Originally booking to 30 July, it will now continue until 31 August 2006.

Since its first performance in London on 1 June 2006 (when it started previews prior to opening on 5 June), every performance of the critically acclaimed theatrical spectacular (See Review RoundUp, 6 Jun 2006) – which features 12 performers hurtling through a 65-minute physical show at breakneck speed - has been sold out. Currently, more than 30,000 tickets have been sold.

Using every elemental force available and played out against a soundtrack of club beats and world music, Fuerzabruta involves spectacular acrobatics, combined with clever lighting and illusions to create a visual feast.

The show is conceived and directed by Diqui James, one of the co-founders of De La Guarda, which was at the Roundhouse for 11 sell-out months (the venue’s longest theatrical run) in 1999/2000 with their global hit.

Fuerzabruta reopened the venue after a two-year £29.8 million refurbishment. The Roundhouse was originally built in 1846 by Robert Stephenson as a railway engine repair shed that was capable of housing 23 steam engines. Its vast circular, circus-like arena accommodates up to 1,800 people sitting or up to 3,300 standing.
