Dick Barton Boys Debut Femme Fatale at Croydon

Dick Barton Boys Debut Femme Fatale at Croydon

Date: 10 December 2004

Croydon’s Warehouse Theatre will this weekend host the world premiere Femme Fatale, the latest musical offering from Phil Willmott. It opens on Sunday 12 December 2004 (previews from 10 December) and continues until 20 February 2005.

The musical comedy, which is a pastiche of Hollywood film noir, reunites the creative team behind the popular and prolific Dick Barton series (See News, 27 Nov 2003), with writing by Willmott, directing by Warehouse artistic director Ted Craig and music by Stefan Bednarczyk.

In Femme Fatale, a rookie reporter is dispatched to get the scoop on a mysterious beauty who the press have dubbed The Black Widow. She’s about to wed for the sixth time, but none of her previous five elderly husbands survived the honeymoon.

Wilmott’s myriad credits as a director include Around the World in 80 Days and, most recently, Androcles and the Lion and Agamemnon at the Scoop with his company Steam Industry. Femme Fatale is designed by Ellen Cairns with lighting by Mathew Eagland.
