Woman in Black & Disney Lion King Extend BookingDate: 21 October 2003
Two West End longrunners have this week announced extensions to their current booking periods.
At the Fortune Theatre, Stephen Mallatratt's adaptation of Susan Hill's ghost story The Woman in Black, which has recently marked its 15th birthday, had added a further seven months to its booking period. Originally produced at Scarborough's Stephen Joseph Theatre in December 1987, The Woman in Black has been seen by over two million theatregoers since opening in London in 1989.
Directed ever since its opening by Robin Herford, the two-hander is now on its 25th cast, Pip Donaghey and Colin Hurley. The Woman in Black had been taking bookings up to 31 January 2004, and has now extended its schedule to cover performances through to 7 August 2004.
Meanwhile, Disney's multi award-winning musical The Lion King has added another three months to its schedule. It's now taking public bookings up to 27 June 2004. The musical, based on the hit animated film, has songs by Elton John and Tim Rice and is housed at the Lyceum Theatre, its home since 1999.
