Fair Lady & Lion King Join West End Cares Cabarets

Date: 12 November 2001

The cast of the West End production of My Fair Lady, headed by Jonathan Pryce who stars as Professor Henry Higgins, will perform some of their favourite numbers from the musical tonight as part of a West End Cares cabaret, an annual event set up in support of Crusaid, the national charity leading the fight against HIV and AIDS.

Tickets for the cabaret, held at the Talk of London, cost £10, with proceeds going towards the fight to raise money and awareness for people living with HIV and AIDS. The company of fellow West End musical, The Lion King, will participate in a similar event, singing some of their favourite songs from the Disney hit on Thursday 29 November.

Neither shows will disrupt their normal performance schedules, at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane and Lyceum Theatre respectfully. The late-night cabarets begin at 11.30pm, following their productions' evening performances.

West End Cares is an annual event, involving performers and musicians from a variety of West End shows. Two cabarets - involving John Barr and a collection of Burt Bacharach songs - have already been staged this year.

Crusaid was founded 15 years ago to fund prevention, education and care efforts in the UK and the developing world in the fight against HIV and AIDS. For tickets or further information, call +44 (0)20 7833 3939 or log onto www.crusaid.org.uk.
