Trilogy Tackles Racism in UK Football

The second play in Clifford Oliver's trilogy on football (soccer) and racism will open this month in London as part of the government's 'Let's Kick Racism Out of Football' campaign. Ooh Ah Showab Khan will play at the Watermans Arts Centre 27 to 30 May and then at the Pleasance London 2 to 5 June before a private performance at the House of Commons on 16 June.
Its prequel, Kicking Out, will also be staged in both Paris and Marseilles this summer during the World Cup as all eyes turn to France for the international contest. Exact dates are still to be confirmed.
Ooh Ah Showab Khan tells the story of 18-year-old Showab Khan, the first Asian British footballer in a premier league team. His career is set to soar, so long as he can accept the games's inherent racism and the culture of abuse and intimidation from players, fans and his own manager.
Ooh Ah Showab Khan is presented by the ARC Theatre Ensemble which has, to date, toured the football message to over 150,000 students at schools across the country.
