Glyndebourne Opera Chief Resigns, Adds to Industry Speculation
Date: 27 September 1997
Anthony Whitworth-Jones, director of the Glyndebourne opera house in Sussex for the past eight years, resigned this week. His resignation is the latest in a round of departures which have left chief executive vacancies at some of the country's leading opera and music companies, including the English National Opera, the Royal Opera House and the Royal Albert Hall. There are rumours that a similar management shake-up is brewing at London's South Bank Centre which runs the Royal Festival Hall concert venue.
