Top 5 selling shows on WhatsOnStage this week

Find out what our hottest tickets are this week

1) Don Juan in Soho

Wyndham's Theatre

It was announced this week that ex-Doctor Who David Tennant will return to the West End next year in a revival of Patrick Marber's classic adaptation of Moliere's play Dom Juan.

The original ran at the Donmar Warehouse with Rhys Ifans in the title role and we're extra excited to see how Mr Tennant will play the rake of the title as he roams around London town.

2) Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead

Old Vic

Yes, it's true. Daniel Radcliffe is returning to tread the boards in the UK in this revival production of Tom Stoppard's classic.

He'll open at the Old Vic alongside Joshua McGuire in the 1966 play which follows the story of Hamlet's two buddies. David Leveaux directs the 50th anniversary production. It would be wise not to miss out on tickets.

3) Travesties

Apollo Theatre

The Menier's production of Tom Stoppard's Travesties is set for a West End transfer in February.

Tom Hollander will reprise his role as Henry Carr which won him the praise of WhatsOnStage critic Sarah Crompton, describing him as 'superb, bemused and charming'.

4) Bat Out of Hell

London Coliseum

It only went on sale this week but already the world premiere of the new musical Bat Out of Hell is proving a hot ticket. The show opens in June 2017 and Jim Stenman's songs – written for pop star Meat Loaf will be a treat to listen to live.

With songs such as "I Would Do Anything For Love", "You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth" and "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad", this should be an absolute crowd pleaser. The cast includes newcomer Andrew Polec as Strat and Christina Bennington as Raven.

5) Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

Harold Pinter Theatre

This is regular on our top selling list at the moment and we can absolutely understand why. The brilliant Imelda Staunton is returning to play in the late Edward Albee's seminal play, alongside Game of Thrones' Conleth Hill.

It's not an all-singing, all-dancing part for Staunton – far from it, but you'll be able to catch her at that in Follies later next year at the National Theare.
