New perfume line inspired by musicals in the works
WhatsOnStage has learned that a number of perfumes inspired by West End musicals are set for release later this year.
The scents included in the range are based on musicals including Kinky Boots and Dreamgirls.
Each product has been carefully engineered using state-of-the-art scent profiling technology to mix the smells of the theatre, the story, and even the cast and crew’s natural scents.
The Kinky Boots fragrance 'Stilettos', complete with boot shaped bottle, is to be released in the summer. Free samples will be handed out from next week.
The company at the centre of the campaign will also be giving patrons everywhere the opportunity to be a Dreamgirl for 'One Night Only', with another new scent influenced by upcoming show Dreamgirls.
An insider told us the plans "have been in the works for a while", and that they are "very excited to open a whole new market".
They added: "We’ve been having meeting with top West End bosses for years and finally feel the time is right to bring these revolutionary products to the market.
"We can’t wait to hear what people think."
Other fragrances planned for release include 'Lovely Ladies' inspired by Les Miserables and 'Memory' influenced by Cats.
A range for children is also on the cards featuring ‘Smell of Rebellion’ inspired by Matilda, and ‘Juicy!’, a special Charlie and the Chocolate Factory-themed scent.
If all goes well, a public competition could be held, looking for suggestions for the next West End scent.
