First look: Miranda Hart in Annie

Production images of the comedian in her West End debut have been released

Production images have been released offering a first look at Miranda Hart in the upcoming production of Annie.

The show, which is directed by Nikolai Foster, is due to open at the Piccadilly Theatre next week, with Hart starring as Miss Hannigan.

Other cast in the show include Alex Bourne (Mamma Mia!) as Daddy Warbucks, Holly Dale Spencer (Sweet Charity) as Grace Farrell, Jonny Fines (Grease) as Rooster and Djalenga Scott (Grease) as Lily. The title role will be shared by three actors, 13 year-old Madeleine Haynes, and 12 year-olds Lola Moxom and Ruby Stokes.

Hart makes her West End acting debut in the production, which has a book by Thomas Meehan music by Charles Strouse and lyrics by Martin Charnin.

Annie is based on the comic strip Little Orphan Annie, and the musical is follows Annie during the Great Depression in '30s New York as she is forced to live a life of misery in Miss Hannigan's orphanage.

Annie will run at the Piccadilly Theatre from 5 June 2017 to 6 January 2018, with previews from 23 May.
