Casting has been announced for Joe Hill-Gibbins' upcoming production of A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Jemima Rooper – who recently starred in Hand to God in the West End – is to play Hermia opposite John Dagleish (The Winter's Tale) as Lysander. Anastasia Hille – who starred as Gertrude in Hamlet opposite Benedict Cumberbatch – will play Titania and Michael Gould (A View From the Bridge) will star as the king of the fairies Oberon.

Oliver Alvin-Wilson (The Red Barn) will play Demetrius and Anna Madeley (Les Blancs) will star as Helena. Leo Bill (Hamlet) plays Bottom, while Matthew Steer (Hamlet) will play Peter Quince. Further casting is to be announced.

Hill-Gibbins' production of Measure for Measure at the Young Vic last year was a video-infused modern interpretation, which starred Romola Garai. His Midsummer will 'dive into the subconscious' of Shakespeare's play.

Design for the piece is from Johannes Schutz, costumes by Michaela Barth, sound from Paul Arditti and movement by Jenny Ogilvie.

A Midsummer Night's Dream runs at the Young Vic from 23 February to 1 April with previews from 16 February.
