Here Lies Love opens NT Dorfman

The new NT Dorfman officially opens its doors tonight (13 October 2014) with the UK premiere of disco musical Here Lies Love. The show premiered at the Public Theatre in New York last year and sees the audience invited to join in with choreographed dance routines.

The story of Here Lies Love follows Imelda Marcos, the former Philippine first lady, as she regresses from ultimate power to infamy and disgrace.

The show is directed by Alex Timbers, who directed it on Broadway where his credits also include Rocky and Peter and the Starcatcher.

Leading the cast is Natalie Mendoza, who was previously in Cats and Les Misérables as well as Spiderman: Turn off the Dark. She recently told WhatsOnStage that Here Lies Love is "theatre like no one has experienced it before".

Here Lies Love, which is written by chart-toppers David Byrne and Fatboy Slim, opens tonight at the NT Dorfman for a limited run until 8 January 2015.
