Ophelia Lovibond and Mark Hadfield will join the previously announced Dominic Cooper in The Libertine which opens at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in September.

Directed by Olivier and Tony Award-winning Terry Johnson, Stephen Jeffreys' play tells the true story of John Wilmot, the second Earl of Rochester and a hedonistic poet and playwright.

Lovibond, who plays Elizabeth Barry, has credits including the 2014 film Guardians of the Galaxy and the BBC satire W1A. Her most recent stage role was in Lucy Prebble's The Effect at Sheffield Crucible.

Hadfield (Etherege) has theatre credits including Richard III (Almedia), The Painkiller (Garrick Theatre) and Made in Dagenham (Adelphi Theatre).

Further casting includes Jasper Britton (Richard II and The Jew of Malta, RSC), Will Barton (Fings Ain't Wot They Used T'Be, Theatre Royal Stratford East), Cornelius Booth (The Machine, Donmar Warehouse), Will Merrick (Wendy and Peter Pan, RSC) and Richard Teverson (The Winslow Boy, Old Vic). Further casting to be announced.

The Libertine runs at Bath Theatre Royal from 31 August - 17 September and at the Theatre Royal Haymarket from 27 September - 3 December.
