Carrie Hope Fletcher joins the cast of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

The ”Les Miserables” star is also joined by Shaun Williamson as new additions to the touring cast

Producers have announced that Carrie Hope Fletcher (Les Miserables) will join the UK tour cast of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

The UK and Ireland tour of the Sherman Brothers musical opened at Mayflower Theatre, Southampton on 10 February 2016. Carrie Hope Fletcher will play Truly Scrumptious from 4 May – 2 October.

Carrie starred in the original cast of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as Jemima Potts in 2002 and her popular YouTube channel, It's Way Past My Bedtime, is named after a line in the show – "It’s 20:32, it’s way past your bedtime!"

Also joining the cast from 4 May – 21 August is Shaun Williamson (The Railway Children, EastEnders) as Lord Scrumptious/Baron Bomburst. Phill Jupitus (The Producers), who currently plays the roles of Lord Scrumptious and Baron Bomburst, returns to the show from 24 August.

Other previously announced casting includes Lee Mead (Casualty, Joseph and The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat) as Caractacus Potts (4 May – 18 September) with Jason Manford (The Producers) in the role from 21 September.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang has music and lyrics by the Academy Award-winning Sherman Brothers (Mary Poppins, The Jungle Book). The new production is directed by West Yorkshire Playhouse artistic director James Brining, with new choreography by Stephen Mear.
