With Tim Minchin penning a Groundhog Day musical and Jamie Lloyd helming a stage adaptation of Back to the Future, we thought it only right to put together a list of the films we'd love to see on stage.
1. Mrs Doubtfire
The 1993 comedy would be just perfect for the stage. You'd have to lure Robin Williams in to opening the show, but with songs that could include "Hellooooooo", "Drive by Fruiting" and "Hit by a Guiness Truck" that shouldn't be too hard.
2. Forrest Gump
Tom Hanks' 1994 romantic comedy was a box office smash-hit grossing $677,387,716 worldwide. We think a stage adaptation would be just as successful. Think of the potential; an epic choreographed ping-pong game and songs including "Gotta Find Bubba", "I Love You Jenny" and "Life Is Like A Box Of Chocolates".
Definitely one for the kids (and the adults that are still kids at heart). How amazing would it be to see Slimer on stage? Technically this show could be incredible, though it may require a big budget. It already has the perfect opening song too (click play above).
4. Coyote Ugly
Hen Do's haven't really had a replacement show since Priscilla left the West End and we think this rock'n'roll chick flick will do just the trick. Flashdance and Singing in the Rain have already proven that audiences like seeing people getting drenched on stage. It also has a pretty good sound track already inlcuding LeAnn Rimes' "Can't Fight The Moonlight" and INXS' "Need You Tonight".
5. Pitch Perfect
A sequel has just been announced, so the public demand is there. There's also potential for a little Showstoppers-esque interaction with audience suggesting songs to be 'mashed-up'. If you can sign up Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson all the better.
6. Saving Private Ryan
Tom Hanks makes the list twice with this epic war film from 1998. Think of all the guns and explosions! We'd love to see that opening scene on stage and how about a number called "F.U.B.A.R" to the tune of "D.I.S.C.O"?
Flood the Royal Albert Hall and fill it with sharks, put the cast on a small boat and hey presto, you have the best.show.ever! Standout numbers to include "You're Gonna Need a Bigger Boat" and the opening number to the second half - "Just When You Thought It Was Safe To Go Back In The Water"
Oh no, wait....
No thanks, don't show this popup again.
