Full casting announced for all-Welsh Cyrano de Bergerac

Phillip Breen directs a new take on Rostand’s play featuring poetry from Twm Morys spoken in the Welsh language

Theatr Clwyd artistic director Tamara Harvey has announced full casting for the upcoming production of Cyrano De Bergerac.

The previously announced Steffan Rhodri (Gavin and Stacey) will lead the all-Welsh cast alongside Sara Lloyd-Gregory (The Opportunity of Efficiency, National Theatre Wales) and Marc Rhys (Alice in Wonderland, Greenwich Theatre).

They are joined by Wayne Cater, Steven Elliott, Victoria John, Rhys Parry Jones, Daniel Llewelyn-Williams, Gwawr Loader, Sion Pritchard, Aled Pugh, Simon Holland Roberts and Dafydd Llyr Thomas.

Edmond Rostand's play is translated and adapted by Anthony Burgess and will be directed by Phillip Breen who returns to Theatr Clwyd where he trained under Terry Hands.

Tamara Harvey said today: "I am extremely proud to announce an all-Welsh company for our new production of Cyrano de Bergerac and delighted to be welcoming back so many actors who will be familiar to Clwyd audiences, led by Clwyd-trained Phillip Breen.

"It’s also a great privilege to have additional poetry from acclaimed poet and musician Twm Morys, which, spoken in the Welsh language, will provide a new dimension to this classic play."

Cyrano De Bergerac runs at Theatr Clwyd, Anthony Hopkins Theatre from 14 April – 7 May.
