Niamh Perry is currently playing Sophie in Mamma Mia! the international tour which is currently at Blackpool Opera House until 14 September. We caught up with her in between shows.

So Niamh, what's your favourite…

Film

I love The Shawshank Redemption – amazing story and even more amazing acting. It reminds me of growing up and being allowed to stay up late.

Place to hang out in Blackpool?

I totally love being by the sea. I grew up in Bangor, Northern Ireland and I took living so close to the sea for granted so I’m really appreciating it.

Favourite restaurant in Blackpool

I haven’t had the chance to explore Blackpool’s hidden gems yet I do know that the food in McHalls B&B is brilliant.

Holiday Destination

NYC is my favourite place in the world. I love Manhattan and I love upstate NY where my family live.

Play or musical

I’m a huge fan of Phantom – kind of an obvious choice but some of the melodies in that show are like no other. I also love Dancing at Lughnasa.

Theatre to visit

Grand Opera House in Belfast, as this is where my love for theatre started when I was tiny.

Theatre to work in

Manchester's Royal Exchange Theatre. I played Johanna (Sweeney Todd) at The RE last year and I was blown away by the building and the staff.

Actor/Actress

Judi Dench – No need to explain this one! I watched her in Philomena recently and thought she was insanely good.
