YouTube star Miranda Sings her way back to London

Comedian and singer Colleen Ballinger brings her YouTube creation back to London with a new one-woman show

Miranda Sings is returning to London, bringing her one-woman show back to the Leicester Square Theatre from 9 to 14 September 2013.

The YouTube singing sensation, created by comedian and singer Colleen Ballinger, is a satire of the online phenomenon of bad singers using the website as a platform for self-promotion in an attempt to break into show business.

Miranda Sings Live! is a new show for 2013 and will incorporate improvisation, hit songs, onstage voice lessons, magic tricks and dramatic readings of her own hate mail.

Embodying a talentless performer, Miranda sings off-key, is self-absorbed, dances stiffly to the songs she performs and responds to any negative comments with her catchphrase “Haters back off!”.

Colleen Ballinger is a classically trained singer and actress that first performed as Miranda in 2009. She has since received over 50 million YouTube views and performed in New York, London, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago, Salt Lake City, Dublin and Sydney.

During her 2010 London show, WhatsOnStage ran a competition to find someone to sing alongside Miranda at Leicester Square. The winner was Damien Kavanagh, whose entry “Amanda/Miranda – Womanizer” (see below) was chosen from over 60 hilarious video submissions. Tickets are on sale now for Miranda Sings Live!, which will run at the Leicester Square Theatre from 9 to 14 September 2013 at 7.30pm.
