Blast from the past – Glenn Close in Sunset Boulevard – With the Watermill revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber‘s Sunset Boulevard currently running in the West End’s Comedy theatre, here’s a clip of the original Broadway Norma Desmond, Glenn Close, singing “With One Look” – and with those eyes, you can’t help but believe her!
Looking back at The Girlfriend Experience – One of the Off-West End hits of 2008 was Alecky Blythe‘s The Girlfriend Experience, a verbatim play set in a brothel that ran at the Royal Court Upstairs. Here, Alecky and cast members Debbie Chazen and Beatie Edney discuss the play and reveal a few secrets about the wonders of wearing PVC boots.
Clip from Hit Me! The Life and Rhymes of Ian Dury – Currently at the Leiecester Square Theatre, (6 January to 14 February), Hit Me! The Life and Rhymes of Ian Dury is billed as a “warts-and-all portrait of the man who put the phrase ‘Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll’ into the national psyche”. Here, Jud Charlton (who was controversially sacked from the show last week) performs the aforementioned song, which is featured in the show alongside hits including the iconic “Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick”.
