Theatre Pro Makes Exhibition of Himself???

Unless you’ve been under a rock for the past few weeks, you’ll know that the ‘Fourth Plinth’ in Trafalgar Square is currently hosting Antony Gormley’s One & Other project, in which members of the public are becoming human statues for a period of one hour at a time.

Over 20,000 people applied, and one of those selected in the first group of 615 participants has a strong theatrical connection. Chris McGuigan, Head of Marketing & Sales at the Regent Theatre & Victoria Hall, Stoke-on-Trent, will be ‘making an exhibition of himself’ this weekend (from Midnight on 12 July until 1am on 13 July). He’s planning to “lead an impromptu sing-a-long with his guitar playing a selection of popular songs” whilst collecting money for the Donna Louise Children’s Hospice.

The One & Other project, which is commissioned by the Mayor of London with funds from the Arts Council, and produced in partnership with Sky Arts, sees a different person take their place on the Fourth Plinth every hour, 24 hours a day, for 100 days. It runs from 6 July until 14 October 2009, and applications are still open and can be made at www.oneandother.co.uk.

Good luck Chris!

If you’re in central London this evening (10 July) between 9-10pm, come along and see Action for Children supporter Dianne Stradling will be perched high up on the Fourth Plinth singing and dancing the “Time Warp” to celebrate 140 years of the children’s charity!
