Photos: Popstars Pop Up for Pudsey in West End Musicals
Popstars Peter Andre, Stacey Solomon, the Sugababes and Mel C will perform at the curtain calls of a number of West End musicals next month. The appearances form part of BBC Children in Need’s POP Goes the Musical 2011 which was launched in London today (31 August 2011).
Peter Andre, who it was recently rumoured to want to appear in the show, will be ‘popping up’ in the new West End screen-to-stage hit musical Ghost the Musical performing “Unchained Melody” – the song from the 1990 film’s iconic pottery scene. Andre will appear at the curtain call of the show’s 14 September 2011 performance.
Stacey Solomon, who came to prominence competing in the sixth series of ITV’s The X Factor and has since appeared on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! will be ‘popping up’ during the 10 September matinee performance of Wicked singing ballad “For Good”.
Former Spice Girl Mel C (full name Melanie Chisholm) will ‘pop up’ in We Will Rock You on 13 September 2011 taking on both the show’s title song and Queen anthem “We Are The Champions”. No stranger to the West End stage, Chisholm took over the role of Mrs Johnstone in Willy Russell‘s Olivier award-winning musical Blood Bothers in 2009.
Finally, London-based girl group the Sugarbabes will ‘pop up’ at the curtain call of Mamma Mia! on 15 September, performing Abba hit “Dancing Queen” alongside the cast at the Prince of Wales.
Tickets for all performances are on sale now with more information available through bbc.co.uk/pudsey
