Perfect Pitch presents new musical From Up Here with WOS webcast

Whatsonstage.com continues its support of new writing and developement organisation with our first-ever live webcast of a full-length musical on the UK’s leading dedicated theatre website. From Up Here, written by Aaron Lee Lambert and produced by Perfect Pitch, will receive its world premiere in a limited season from 13 to 15 June 2012 at Berkshire’s South Hall Park Arts Centre. And at the performance 14 June 2012 from 7.30pm, Whatsonstage.com will be streaming the whole thing live.

Exploring time, change and the choices that shape the lives of five very different people whose paths cross in the most unlikely of ways From Up Here asks the question: what makes life worth living? and has a contemporary score that draws influences from Adam Guettel and Jason Robert Brown.

A debut musical from writer and composer Aaron Lee Lambert From Up Here is directed by Luke Sheppard with a cast including Leila Benn Harris, Tommy Sherlock, Russell Walker, Lisa Kerr and Tony Kemp. Sheppard has worked with South Hill Park previously, directing The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and Fantastic Mr Fox and is currently associate diretor of Matilda the Musical and Singin’ in the Rain in the West End.

Founded in 2006, Perfect Pitch is a not-for-profit development network which runs a full artistic programme, focussing on developing new musicals by British writers. Executive producer Andy Barnes said “It is always exciting to see new work reach an audience for the first time and particularly such an original piece of writing as this. It is great to see more of the work Perfect Pitch has been developing reach audiences in the regions through our network of partners, long may this continue.”

The live streaming of From Up Here, which can be seen on Whatsonstage.com on 14 June 2012, is made possible as part of a new Arts Council-funded Digital Media project at South Hill Park. South Hill Park chief executive Ron McAllister said: “This collaboration involves our design and technical teams working with new technologies and methods of communication which are both stimulating and challenging. We are looking forward to exploring what can be achieved by live streaming work from South Hill Park.”

Thanks to our continuing media partnership with Perfect Pitch, members of the Whatsonstage.com Theatre Club enjoy access to free tickets for the 14 June 2012 performance of From Up Here. For more information on the Whatsonstage.com Theatre Club and to join, click here.
