Only Fools & Horses Next for Musical Treatment???

Classic comedy Only Fools and Horses could make the jump from screen to stage Sue Holderness, who played Marlene Boyce in the series, has told the Daily Star. Apparently a musical version of Del Boy and Rodney's entrepreneurial misadventures is "often talked about" and there is a "very strong possibility of it coming to the stage."

How likely the project is to get off the ground may depend on how closely Holderness' casting suggestions are followed. When asked who she'd cast in Only Fools and Horses - the Musical, Holderness suggests Ian McKellen as Grandad and Welsh film star Anthony Hopkins for the part of Uncle Albert.

Holderness would also reportedly "relish the opportunity to star in a stage version" herself, which she hopes Only Fools and Horses fan and Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood would compose.

There was no comment as to whether Nicholas Lyndhurst, currently playing jester Trinculo in Trevor Nunn's Tempest, would be tempted back into the role of Rodney should the sitcom be the next screen-to-stage West End hit.
