Hollywood star Nicole Kidman could be set to make a return to the London stage, according to the Daily Mail.

The actress is in discussions to star in Patrick Marber's adaptation of Turgenev's A Month in the Country which will be directed by Ian Rickson "sometime in 2015".

She told the Mail's Baz Bamigboye that she was in "complex negotiations", and that she might follow A Month in the Country with another play.

Kidman would play Natalya, an unhappily married woman who falls in love with a younger man.

Her West End return would be her first London stage appearance since she starred in Sam Mendes' production of David Hare's The Blue Room at the Donmar Warehouse in 1998.

The Oscar-winning actress added that she was committed to the project, which looks set to be produced by Sonia Friedman, saying that she was "mindful" of the long gap since she has trod the boards.
