The Woman in Black, currently resident at the West End’s Fortune Theatre, is adapted (by Stephen
Mallatratt) from Susan Hill’s 1970s novel, a ghost story told through the eyes of
a keen young solicitor sent to a secluded house to wind up the affairs
of a recently deceased woman.
Originally produced at Scarborough’s Stephen Joseph Theatre in December 1987, The Woman in Black first transferred to the West End’s Strand Theatre
in 1989, prior to its move to the Fortune. It’s currently on a UK tour, in tandem with the West End run.
